How much does Green Chef cost a week?
Between £34.20 and £100.00 a week before delivery. Green Chef sells boxes for 2 people with 2 to 5 meals, and for 4 people with 3 or 4 meals. There is no box for one person or for three.

The price is the same whichever plan you pick. We checked Keto and “I eat everything” for every box size and got identical prices, so a keto box costs no more than a flexitarian one.
How much does Green Chef cost per serving?
£6.25 to £8.55 a serving before delivery. Unlike most recipe boxes, the price per serving hardly moves with the size of the box.

- For 2 people, 3, 4 and 5 meals all cost £6.75 a serving. Only the 2-meal box is dearer, at £8.55. So ordering more meals does not lower the price per serving, apart from spreading the delivery fee.
- The 4-person box is £6.25 a serving, 50p less than for 2 people.
- Delivery comes on top of all of these. Whatever your checkout shows, divide it by the number of servings to get the real figure. The calculator below does that for you.

You can skip as many weeks as you like, as long as you do it before the deadline. That is currently 11:59pm five days before delivery, so Monday night for a Saturday box.
What else can you end up paying?
- Delivery. Charged per box and only shown at checkout. Green Chef says it depends on your address, and that it costs more outside mainland UK. We could not see it without creating an account, so it is not in the tables.
- Shorter delivery windows. For some mainland addresses you can pick a narrower time slot for a surcharge.
- Premium recipes, swaps and add-ons. These can all raise the weekly total above the box price.
What you pay in the first weeks
Green Chef's current offer for new customers: 40% off the first box, then 25% off the rest of the first month, plus free delivery on the first box. Applied when you order, no code needed. Subscription only, no one-off orders. Checked 1 October 2026.
For 2 people with 3 meals that means £24.30 for the first box, delivered free, and £30.38 plus delivery for each further box in your first month. After that you pay the full £40.50 plus delivery. The offer is on our Green Chef discount code page as well.
Green Chef does not sell one-off boxes. You join a subscription, so if you only want to try it, note the deadline for your second box.
Is Green Chef expensive?
Compared with the mainstream boxes, yes. Green Chef has the highest price per serving of the big UK recipe kits. Whether that is worth it depends on why you are looking at it.
- If you eat keto: it is the obvious choice. Green Chef is the only mainstream UK recipe box with a real keto plan, capped at 20g net carbs a serving. Other keto options are in our overview of keto meal boxes.
- If you just want easy dinners: probably not. HelloFresh and Gousto cover everyday cooking for less.
- On your own: no. The smallest box is for 2 people, so you cook for two. Gousto has a real one-person box; see recipe boxes for one person.
- Gluten-free: not suitable. Green Chef has no gluten-free option.
Is Green Chef more expensive than HelloFresh?
Yes, for every box size the two have in common, even before you add Green Chef's delivery fee. HelloFresh charges £4.99 delivery on top of its box prices.

Even if Green Chef delivered for free, the popular box for 2 with 3 meals would still cost £2.57 a week more than HelloFresh with its £4.99 delivery. For a family box the gap is £20 to £30 a week. How to pay less for Green Chef
- Skip the 2-meal box. It costs £8.55 a serving, against £6.75 for 3 meals or more.
- Use the first-month offer to find out whether the plan fits your week before you pay the full price.
- Take the standard delivery slot. A narrower window costs extra.
- Skip weeks you do not need. It is free before the deadline, five days before delivery.
