How much does HelloFresh cost a week?
Between £34.95 and £84.79 a week, depending on how many people you cook for and how many meals you order. HelloFresh sells boxes for 2, 3 or 4 people with 2 to 5 meals a week. There is no box for one person.

Delivery is a flat £4.99 per box, whatever the size. On a 2-person box with 2 meals that is £1.25 a serving. On the family box with 5 meals it is 25p.
How much does HelloFresh cost per serving?

- The biggest saving is the step from 2 to 3 meals. For 2 people the price drops from £8.74 to £6.32 a serving.
- HelloFresh's own “£3.99 a serving” is the family box with 5 meals, without delivery. With delivery it is £4.24.
- A 3-person box is cheaper per serving than a 2-person box at every number of meals. If you would eat the extra portion for lunch, it can be worth it.

In practice most people skip the odd week, for a holiday or a busy weekend away. HelloFresh lets you do that without a charge, as long as you do it before the weekly deadline. That is currently 11:59pm five days before your delivery.
What else can you end up paying?
The price in the plan selector is not always what leaves your account. These are the things that push it up:
- Delivery, £4.99 per box. Included in every figure on this page.
- Premium recipes. Part of the menu carries a surcharge per serving. Choose one and your weekly price goes up.
- Extras. Desserts, snacks and other add-ons can be ordered with your box. They are not in the prices above.
- Some delivery options. HelloFresh can charge more for certain delivery choices. The checkout shows it before you pay.
What you pay in the first weeks
New customers get a discount. On 1 October 2026 HelloFresh offered 50% off your first box, plus free treats for two months. For the popular 2-person box with 3 meals, half of the £32.94 box price is £16.47. HelloFresh shows the exact total for your first box at checkout.
After that you pay the normal prices in the tables above, and the subscription carries on automatically. If you only want to try one box, set a reminder to skip or cancel before the deadline for your second box. The current offer and its conditions are on our HelloFresh discount code page.
Is HelloFresh expensive?
It depends mostly on the size of your household.
- On your own: yes. There is no one-person box, so you order for two and keep the second portion. With 2 meals that is £8.74 a serving. Gousto has a real one-person box, and our overview of recipe boxes for one person lists the other options.
- For a couple: mid-range. £6.32 a serving with 3 meals, £5.49 with 5. Buying the same ingredients at a supermarket is cheaper, but you pay for the planning, the exact quantities and not having half a bunch of coriander left over.
- For a family: reasonable. 4 people with 5 meals comes to £4.24 a serving, delivery included.
Our Dutch sister site Foodboxen.nl has cooked HelloFresh boxes five times since 2021. Those were Dutch boxes at Dutch prices, so none of the figures on this page come from them. What does carry over is the pattern: the family box is where the price per serving starts to look sensible, and the smallest boxes are where delivery hurts most.
Is HelloFresh more expensive than Gousto?
Yes. We compared every box that both sell, with delivery included: Gousto charges £3.99 delivery, HelloFresh £4.99. Gousto came out cheaper in all 12 cases.

How to pay less for HelloFresh
- Order 3 meals rather than 2. Delivery stays the same, so it weighs less per serving. For 2 people that saves £2.42 a serving.
- Cook for 3 and eat the extra portion the next day. A 3-person box with 3 meals costs £5.54 a serving, against £6.32 for 2 people. The extra plate is your lunch.
- Leave premium recipes alone unless you really want one. The surcharge is per serving, so on a family box it adds up quickly.
- Use the new-customer offer, then decide honestly whether the normal price is worth it to you.
- Skip weeks when you know you will not cook at home. It costs nothing if you do it before the deadline.
