Effortless keto meals with a recipe box!

Keto meal boxes take the guesswork out of low-carb cooking: instead of checking net carbs recipe by recipe, you get meals that are already built around fewer carbohydrates and more protein and healthy fats. Below, we’ve gathered the UK recipe boxes with genuine keto or strict low-carb options, so you can compare them on price, recipe choice and how strictly keto-focused each one actually is.

Keto meal boxes

Keto meal boxes are designed for people who want meals with fewer carbohydrates and a stronger focus on fats, protein and filling ingredients. In practice, the UK market is still fairly limited when it comes to fully dedicated keto recipe boxes, but there are several meal box providers that offer keto-friendly or low-carb options.

This means the best choice is not always a box that is 100% keto. For many people, a flexible recipe box with strong low-carb meal options can be a better fit, especially if you still want variety throughout the week.

What kind of keto boxes are available?

Most keto-friendly boxes fall into one of three groups:

  • Keto-focused recipe boxes with meals built around a lower-carb lifestyle.
  • Low-carb meal boxes that are not always strict keto, but can still work well if you are reducing carbohydrates.
  • Ready-made keto or low-carb meals for days when you want the convenience without cooking from scratch.

The main difference is how strict you want to be. A dedicated keto plan gives you more structure, while a low-carb meal box may offer more choice and feel easier to use as part of normal weekly cooking.

How to compare keto meal boxes

When comparing keto-friendly boxes, look beyond the headline label. Check the recipe choice, portion size, price per serving, delivery costs and how clearly the provider shows nutritional information. Some boxes may only have a few keto-style recipes each week, while others are built more clearly around specific diets and lifestyle preferences.

You can use our filters to compare keto meal boxes by price, number of meals, household size and dietary preference. If you are not following a strict ketogenic diet, it is also worth comparing the wider low-carb meal box category.

Who are keto meal boxes best for?

Keto meal boxes can be useful if you want fewer carbs but do not want to plan every meal yourself. They are especially handy if you find it difficult to come up with varied keto dinners, or if you want pre-portioned ingredients and clear recipes without spending too much time checking labels in the supermarket.

Which keto box should you choose?

Of the options on this page, Green Chef comes closest to a dedicated keto range: it tags recipes by diet, including keto, so you can filter directly instead of checking every recipe’s carb count yourself. Mindful Chef leans more towards general high-protein, nutrition-first recipes with full macro breakdowns on every dish, useful if you would rather check the numbers yourself than rely on a diet label. HelloFresh has some lower-carb recipes each week but no dedicated keto filter, so it takes more picking through the menu. Riverford and SimplyCook work differently again: Riverford is built around seasonal, whole-food vegetables rather than diet tags, and SimplyCook has you buying the fresh ingredients yourself, which can make strict keto easier in one sense (you control every ingredient), but there is no keto guardrail built in.

We have tested HelloFresh and Green Chef ourselves, though so far only their Dutch meal boxes rather than the UK versions. The recipe card system and diet-tagging work the same way internationally, which is why we are comfortable describing how the filtering works, even though we have not yet run a UK order with either.

If you follow keto for medical reasons, or you need to be very strict with your carbohydrate intake, always check the latest nutritional details from the provider before ordering. Menus change regularly, and not every low-carb meal is automatically suitable for a strict keto diet.
