Pescatarian meal boxes and prepared meals in the UK

Updated 16 September 2026. Research-based comparison, not a hands-on test. How we review

We sort services by how far they actually cater for a pescatarian diet: built around it, a proper menu option or filter, or only a few suitable dishes. A box is only listed as pescatarian when it is one of the first two.

Seafood delights: discover your pescatarian meal box options!

Pescatarian recipe boxes are for anyone who eats fish and seafood but skips other meat, a diet fewer UK meal box providers cater to directly compared with vegetarian or vegan. Rather than a dedicated pescatarian menu, most boxes here work by filtering out meat while keeping fish and seafood recipes in the mix, so below we compare the providers with the strongest, most varied pescatarian-suitable menus.

Pescatarian meal boxes

Pescatarian meal boxes are built for people who eat fish and seafood but no other meat, they sit somewhere between a vegetarian and an omnivore diet. Fewer providers run a dedicated pescatarian range than a vegetarian one, so most pescatarian cooking here means filtering a wider seafood or mixed menu rather than picking from a menu built specifically around the diet.

What kind of pescatarian options are available?

  • Seafood-focused recipe boxes. Some providers run a dedicated fish and seafood range each week, useful if you want variety beyond the usual salmon fillet.
  • Mixed recipe boxes with a pescatarian filter. Larger providers often let you filter out meat while keeping fish and seafood recipes in view, alongside their vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Combining vegetarian and seafood recipes yourself. Where there’s no dedicated pescatarian filter, picking from the vegetarian range and adding the occasional fish recipe covers most of the diet.

How to compare pescatarian meal boxes

Check how many genuinely pescatarian-suitable recipes are on the menu each week, rather than just whether fish appears occasionally, some providers only run one or two seafood dishes a week, which gets repetitive fast. It’s also worth comparing price per portion, sourcing (farmed versus wild-caught, sustainability certification), and how easily you can filter the weekly menu without also excluding meat-heavy family meals if you’re cooking for a mixed household.

Which pescatarian box should you choose?

Gousto’s large recipe library makes it the easiest to filter for pescatarian meals week to week, with enough fish and seafood recipes that you’re not stuck repeating the same two dishes. HelloFresh has fish and seafood recipes on the menu regularly, though not as a dedicated filter, so expect to pick around the wider menu. Green Chef leans more health-focused and tags some recipes by diet, worth checking if seafood and lighter eating both matter to you.

We’ve tested HelloFresh and Green Chef ourselves, though so far only their Dutch meal boxes rather than the UK versions, so we can’t speak to the UK seafood recipe range first-hand. We haven’t tested Gousto ourselves, that recommendation is based on its published recipe range rather than hands-on experience.

Who are pescatarian meal boxes best for?

Anyone who eats fish and seafood but not other meat, and who’d rather have suitable recipes filtered out for them than build a pescatarian week from a general menu themselves. If you’re mostly vegetarian with the occasional fish dish, our vegetarian meal boxes category is worth comparing too.
