Grocery box delivery in the UK

Updated 16 September 2026. Research-based comparison, not a hands-on test. How we review

Grocery delivery by box means fruit and vegetables here rather than a full shop: none of these services replaces a supermarket order. They divide by model. Oddbox is the cheapest and sends surplus produce you do not choose. Abel & Cole and Riverford are certified organic and customisable, and Riverford delivers free. Milk & More adds a box to a milk round. Two of the four deliver by postcode zone, so coverage is worth checking before price.

Fresh essentials delivered in a grocery box!

What exactly are Grocery Boxes?

Grocery Boxes are often curated with products sourced from local providers, effectively bypassing the supermarket chain. In other words, you often purchase directly from the farmer. This often comes with fair compensation for the farmers; you usually receive high-quality organic products.

There’s quite a variety of Grocery Boxes available, catering to different preferences. For example:

  • Fruit & Veg Boxes
  • Fruit, Veg & Salad Boxes
  • Weekly Essentials, including items like bread, cheese, eggs, meat, breakfast items, and more.

Depending on the Grocery Box provider, you can often select and add extra products to your box. The box is typically delivered once a week or on a date of your choice, although this schedule can vary from one provider to another.

These boxes offer a different experience compared to recipe meal boxes. The latter provides pre-measured ingredients for a specific meal and accompanying recipes. With Grocery boxes, you bring home fresh (essential) products that you can then use to create something delicious. It’s all about your creativity!

Who are these types of boxes useful for?

These boxes are convenient for anyone looking to tailor their order to their specific needs and preferences. Many services offer flexible delivery schedules, ensuring you always have the necessary groceries. Grocery subscriptions are an excellent choice for busy individuals or families seeking to save time and alleviate the stress of grocery shopping.
